Council Meeting Agenda Highlights

The Common Council meets tonight, at 7PM to discuss and act on a number of issues. After the honors and congratulations, there is a public hearing, at which you may make comments on any item which is on the agenda.
Below are some of the agenda highlights:

Resolution 3-1 Honoring Moving Planet Day.
Resolution 3-2 Honoring Lucy Bettencourt.
Resolution 3-3 Congratulating Jerry’s Pizza on its 44th Anniversary.

B. Resolution 7-1 Confirming the appointment of Geen Thazhampallath as the Director of Parking and approving salary at Grade 15, Step 5, Teamsters Local #361 ($40.46 per hour), 40 hours.
Appropriations Request
Common Council $10,000, Account No. 1000-12000-55185, Contractual Services, General Fund.
Resolutions, Ordinances, etc.
Resolution 11-2 Approving conducting an investigation, in accordance with the request of the WPCA, as to the relocation of the Director and Assistant Director of the Water and Sewer Department; approving the waiving of Section 78-10 Contracts for Professional Services of Chapter 78 to allow the hiring of an outside law firm or professional organization to conduct the investigation; and approving creating a subcommittee of the Council to hire and sign the agreement on behalf of the Common Council for such professional services.
Resolution 11-3 Approving the waiving of Section 74-9, Filling of Vacancies and that no vacant position due to retirement, except for those that may impact public safety, be filled until such time as Finance and Government Operations Commission has time to review said position.
Resolution 11-7 Authorizing the Mayor to execute a three year partial real estate property tax abatement to Advanced SportsPlex and Training Center as authorized by C.G. S. 12-65b and Section 272-9(F) of the Middletown Code of Ordinances. Ordinance 11-13 Approving a new Article XVII, Middletown Fireworks Fund, and a new Section 47-39 Purpose, Section 47-40, Administration and Section 47-41 Waiver, be added to Chapter 47 of the Middletown Code of Ordinances.
