Prescription Drug Take-Back

A Notice from

Middletown Police Department

The Middletown Police Department is pleased to announce that on Saturday, October 29, 2011 we will be hosting a “Prescription Drug Take-Back” drop off initiative. The hours of operation will be from 8:00 AM- 1:00 PM in the police department’s community room located off of the main lobby. This is a walk-in event so no appointment is necessary.

This nationwide, one-day collaborative effort with local and state law enforcement agencies to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our community’s households will serve as an opportunity for the public to turn over pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.

Expired, unused, or unwanted controlled, substances in our homes are a potential source of supply for the increasing abuse of pharmaceutical drugs in the United States. They are also an unacceptable risk to public health and safety.

The Middletown Police Department is working in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to coordinate this effort. Title 21 of the United States Code (21 USC) provides more information regarding controlled substances, or you may go to and click on the controlled substances link.

Questions or concerns about the upcoming event may be directed to Lieutenant Gary Wallace, Support Services Unit Supervisor at 860-638-3501 or

Lieutenant Gary Wallace
