Mail-in Voter Registration Deadline Next Week

According to Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, if you want to register to vote by mail, your registration cards must be postmarked by Tuesday October 25th in order to qualify for the November Municipal elections. Eligible voters can also register in person at their Registrar of Voters office until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 1st to qualify for the Municipal Elections.

Crucial budget and educational issues are facing many towns in Connecticut as voters go to the polls to choose municipal leaders this year, so it is imperative to register to vote!” said Secretary Merrill. “Anyone who wants a say in the future direction of their community in these tough times should make sure they either mail in their registration card by next Tuesday October 25th or go to town hall and fill out the registration card in person by 8:00 p.m. on November 1st.

Polls will open statewide from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 8, 2011, when the Middletown, along with most other municipalities, will hold its election.

Absentee ballots are also available, voters can go onlineto download an application for an absentee ballot or a voter registration card, as well as see if they are registered and where their polling place is located.

Tuesday October 25th is also the last day write-in candidates wishing to run in the Municipal elections can register with the Secretary of the State’s office. Write in candidates must register in-person with the Secretary of the State by 4:00 p.m. that day.
