BIKE WALK CONNECTICUT 2011 SUMMIT "CREATING BIKE AND WALK FRIENDLY PLACES"

Save the date for the 2nd annual Bike Walk Connecticut Summit "Creating Bike and Walk Friendly Places" which will be held November 12, in New Haven at Yale University's Kroon Hall. Registration starts at 8:00, with Welcome and Opening Remarks starting at 8:45. 

Featured speakers are Andy Clark, president of the League of American Bicyclists who will speak on "What is a Bike-Friendly America?" and John Simone director of Connecticut Main Street, talking about the economic development benefits of a bike-friendly community. Other speakers include Tom Condon from the Hartford Courant and a handful of state Senators/Representatives.
Sessions include:

1. Every Community Can Be Bike-Friendly.  
2.  Bike Friendly America and Economic Development. 
3.  A Bike Friendly Community Should Be Walk-Friendly Too. Learn about Complete Streets and Safe Routes to School (SRTS) and how to include pedestrian-friendly measures in a bike-friendly plan. 
4. What's going on in CT?
5. Advocacy--Making the Case.

Join event participants at the end of the day, for a guided tour--walking or biking--
to see first hand how bicycling and walking infrastructure has made the streets of New Haven friendly and safer.

Early registration is encouraged as space is limited to 175 participants. Cost is $20 for Bike Walk Connecticut members, and $30 for non-members. A box lunch is included. Yale University and Elm City Cyclists have been working with Bike Walk Connecticut to make this an informative event for any and all who would like to see a more bike friendly state, and local community.
