Breakin Out on a Saturday Night

Tonight, The Shadow Room was packed with a crowd of people who came to be a part of the latest ConnectBeats Radius production. The place was alive with much dancing. The creator of hip-hop, DJ Kool Herc, came from New York to entertain the crowd. Being in the presence of a man who created an entirely new genre of music was an energizing and powerful feeling. I had an excellent time. It was great to see such a vibrant and enthusiastic crowd of people pour in for this fun event.

It is great to see a positive piece written about Hip-hop. Thanks ConnectBeats for organizing a great event!

We are truly lucky to have these types of shows in Middletown and that ConnectBeats is here doing what they do. From my personal experience, I have been much more comfortable with the happy enthusiasm at hip-hop shows than the aggressive energy that's sometimes palpable at rock shows. Its also quite amazing the amount of talent and range of styles that get packed together and incorporated into a show. Hip-hop shows are just plain old fun. I hope more people will come and check out the next show and see for themselves.

This had to be one of the coolest events to happen in Middletown for a long time. This was Herc's 1st performance after his surgery. Proof that positive Hip Hop brings good times for all cultures. Too bad the new generation of money making rap and only seems to bring violence and the city cannot differentiate the two.

Kool Herc was awesome. Herc being in Middletown is still something I'm trying to process & proves anything's possible when we keep an open mind. We can all work together to make Middletown an artist hub for all styles and genres. That's what RADIUS is about and I'm proud to rock the decks so close to Record Express where I bought my first piece of Vinyl "8 Million Stories" by Kurtis Blow. DJ N.E.B.
