Cranes Arrive to Clear Damage

Two large cranes are now positioned on Main Street to demolish what is left of the third floor of 505 Main Street after a roof collapse today.

According to Middletown Frame owner, and tenant, Dimitri Delessandro, all utilities have been shut down and now the crews hope to demolish the remainder of the third floor, and to remove roof beams to stabilize the remaining building.  Once they have done so they hope to let tenants, like Delassandro, enter the first floor of the building to retrieve one-of-a-kind artworks and artifacts in his frame shop.

Initial speculation is that the 120-year old building is beyond repair and will have to be demolished.

Preliminary demolition of the third floor will begin as soon as cranes are erected.

Main Street from Washington to Liberty is completely closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.  Washington Street, Route 66, is now open.

Any idea what buildings will be closed on until inspection?
