Middletown Schools Association Seeks Book Donations

From the Middletown Schools Association

Share the joy by donating any gently loved books to the Middletown Schools Association. We're specifically looking for children's books for Middletown's Summer Reading Program, but will accept any contemporary adult novels as well. Books can be dropped off at any of the Middletown Public Schools (in a bag or box labelled "MSA") or just contact Stephanie Alderman (MSA President) at sjveed@gmail.com or Melinda Brainerd (MSA VP) at melinda.brainerd@gmail.com and we will help to arrange pick up.

why should I donate when I have seen teachers and librarians at my son's elementary school toss perfectly readable yet tattered or older books from the 50s and 60s? Russel library also does the same.

I think that is poor attitude to not donate books to kids to take home and keep just because others might throw books away. These books are not going to the schools or the teachers or to Russel Library, they are going to students. And if that is not a good enough reason to donate then I would have to assume nothing is a good enough reason for you to donate.

Are you serious, Anonymous 3:39? 60-70 year old childrens books are probably not the most tempting (nor relevant) reads for todays youth.

If Russell library kept every single book in the collection that they had ever owned, they'd need quadruple the size of the library.

tattered or older books are likely to have mildew and you might not see it but the person who tossed the book may have smelled it. and seriously, why should you do ANYTHING? you sound like a sourpuss.
