Hopes For Kayak Landing Sunk

A resolution to exchange city property on Johnson Street with private property to create a Kayak launch on the Coginchaug River was abruptly dropped from the Common Council agenda Tuesday after the owners of the private property, members of the Szewczyk family, backed away from the deal over concerns about insurance liability.

After the meeting, city planner Bill Warner admitted the plan was dead.

what a waste of money! alternate city sites should have been explored - for example, along the edge of the recycling center...some new fencing and little brush clearing and grading some gravel and you're in business...
instead they blow it all....typical -le sigh.
