Celebration of World Breastfeeding Week

Middlesex Hospital’s Pregnancy and Birth Center will host a celebration of World Breastfeeding Week on Tuesday, August 3 at the hospital. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Middlesex Hospital’s North One meeting room. The celebration honors all of the families who have chosen to breastfeed and the community of support that it takes to be successful.

Healthcare facilities play a vital role in promoting the benefits of breastfeeding. The Pregnancy & Birth Center [PBC] at Middlesex Hospital has earned the designation of a "Baby-Friendly" hospital by Baby-Friendly USA. This organization recognizes hospitals that provide an optimal level of care and information for breastfeeding moms and their babies. From delivery on, Middlesex provides careful encouragement, education and support for new mothers and their feeding choices.

For more information, contact the Middlesex Hospital Pregnancy and Birth Center Lactation Consultant at (860) 358-6867.

The other two Connecticut hospitals that made the Baby-Friendly USA list are Hartford Hospital and St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.
