From the Middletown Police Department
On July 8, 2010 the Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the Patrol Division and Detective Division executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at the residence of 3 Flower St. We had received numerous complaints concerning this address from concerned citizens that reside in the area.
Upon entering the area of East Main St and Flower St. the male target of our investigation Stacey Ragsdale age 40 was observed attempting to hide in GiGi’s Café at 71 East Main St.
Detectives proceeded to the residence at 3 Flower St. and secured the dwelling.
Ragsdale was then observed running from the area in front of GiGi’s Café across East Main St. onto Maple St. in an easterly direction. Ragsdale began throwing bags of marijuana in an effort to elude detectives. Detectives were able to subdue Ragsdale and took him into custody. Ragsdale had a substantial amount of money in his possession when taken into custody.
Patricia (Gaskins) Ragsdale age 37 and her twenty year old daughter were secured inside of the residence as her 17 year old son and seven year old nephew were playing out in the street. Patricia Ragsdale has custody of the seven year old nephew, who resides at 3 Flower St.
There was a total of 2.5 ounces of marijuana seized. There was a significant amount of narcotic paraphernalia located throughout the residence.
The Department of Children and Families was contacted as the seven year old resides at 3 Flower St. where numerous narcotic violations were observed. DCF investigation is still ongoing.
Stacey Ragsdale was subsequently arrested for the following charges and held on a $200,000.00 Bond:
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Sell
Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Sell within 1500’ of a School/Housing Project
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Risk of Injury to a Minor
Interfering with a Search Warrant/Destruction of Evidence
Patricia Ragsdale was subsequently arrested for the following charges and held on a $100,000.00 Bond:
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Sell
Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Sell within 1500’ of a School/Housing Project
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Risk of Injury to a Minor

What exactly is the Eye's editorial policy on reporting "crime" in Middletown?
The more public shaming for these criminals who are ruining Middletown the better!! Let their name be all over the internet- they should be forced to where signs, but since the ACLU would be all over that
The policy is:
1) if the crime is humorous
2) if it highlights something the public should know- a huge bust, or lack of police fortitude, a victim's rights violation etc
3)Letting the public know which neighborhoods are infested with low life's and crackheads might attract more downtown business to local crack houses, or maybe just CHANGE things by keeping everyone on notice for this activity, its all win win no matter how you see it
Wait, oh you didn't know about the "crime' in Middletown?
Hopefully readers will not mistake an anonymous posting (7:28) as Eye editorial policy. The truth is much less intentional. The police department emails press releases to all of the media when a significant police action has taken place. Ed and I are each on this distribution list. We do not filter these press releases in any way, and we try to make it clear that these are written by the police department.
If there has ever been "selection" of which releases to post, it is only on the basis of timeliness. Sometimes a press release might slip by without being posted simply because we are away from email or are too busy at work. We print the release usually without any changes (I remember one case where we shortened the release, and another time where we fixed a typo).
We long for a blogging platform in which the news could be subdivided into sections (a crime section, an arts section, etc), but that is not currently possible.
