Middletown City Hall closed at noon Tuesday after a malfunction of the air conditioning system created "unhealthy" conditions.
The Tax Collector's office and the Tax Assessor's office remain open.
City Hall is scheduled to re-open for regular hours Wednesday.

Are you kidding me? I wouldn't be able to work 50% of the year if that was the case.
I hope you used sick time or some other lame paid for nothing crap.
This is what the tax payers (not voters) want changed in our goverment.
It's a city hall lock-out this afternoon - 7/7. Bet the city hall "work"force is getting paid when the doors are locked.
Dear taxpayers - it was over 100 degrees in the building today and yesterday. Not only is that unhealthy for some of the older workforce but the elderly taxpayers who would have had to stand in line to pay taxes! I know the economy is bad but the catcalls on city workers is getting to be a bit much. The workers at city hall do a great job getting the work done without overtime, unlike the Board of Education. They are public servants who get berated in ways corporate america wouldn't understand. You wouldn't leave your pet in a 100 degree car or building so why would it be okay to risk human life. Take a cool drink and get a life.
Not all offices were closed. Payroll got done, and other essential offices were open. I highly doubt in the private industry in this situation someone would be forced to stay at work if inside the building was over 100 degrees, cut them some slack. Mind you the essential offices- those individuals stayed despite the 100 degree weather, but it was no picnic.
this time when you pick up your paycheck say THANK YOU someone had to stay and do that -
