State Senate President Pro Tem Don Williams visited with the Chamber’s Legislative Committee and Board of Directors at a special meeting on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Inn at Middletown. The event was sponsored by Connecticut Light and Power.
Senator Williams provided Chamber members with a preview of the 2010 Legislative Session, which begins on Wednesday February 3, 2010. He stated that his top two priorities for the session are preserving jobs and balancing the state’s budget. The Senator believes state government needs to become smarter, smaller, and more efficient in the future, and that the Governor and the General Assembly need to work together to stabilize the state budget. He acknowledged that some difficult decisions will have to be made.
Members of the Chamber had the opportunity to engage Senator Williams in a very productive question and answer session in which they brought up some important points on the Chamber’s Legislative Agenda.
The Chamber’s Legislative Committee and Board of Directors will be meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives Chris Donovan on Friday, February 19. This event will also be held at the Inn at Middletown and is sponsored by AT&T.
