Rumor Has It...

that there's a paper shortage in Middletown schools, and I even heard that homework has been canceled because of it. Of course, I didn't catch WHICH school has this problem, so I went straight to the top to sort it out.

Business Manager Nancy Haynes confirmed on 1/28/10 to Superintendent Michael Frechette that she knows of no paper shortage at any of the schools. Furthermore, she had just signed a purchase order for three schools to buy paper.

So, if anyone has confirmed instances of a school not having enough paper, please post a comment with your specifics. Otherwise, I'm happy to report that it was just a nasty rumor, although I'm sure there are many kids out there who'd love to have homework canceled because of budget shortfalls!

THIS IS NOT A RUMOR. Not only is there a paper shortage among schools...Lawrence and Farm Hill that I know of. Teachers are given an allotment of paper to use. My child came home with a letter early in the school year from the teacher stating that due to a paper shortage they will not receive homework assignments every night. There are also concerns with broken vacuums in the schools that need to be "shared", maintenance workers that need to actually shovel walks because snowblowers are broken. These are not rumors. Instead of going to the BOE who seem to "always have the right answer" bring a donation of a ream of paper to a school and see the response you get. I guarantee you'll get your "rumors" confirmed.

Have to wonder which schools had paper ordered for them? Since I also recieved a letter like Anonymous about the paper situation.

Somebody needs to call Dunder-Mifflin!

What's with this "not receiving homework assignments every night"? What does this mean? Is this a handout of arithmetic problems, for example? Or it is the words "Read pages 56 to 78"?

Either way, what ever happened to copying it down in your memo pad? Or do we not even HOLD a pencil in our hands anymore

SPENCER SCHOOL IS OUT OF PAPER TOO. Yep, the rumor is true, despite all the denial around town. I should clarify, though, the school is out of white paper. There still is a smattering of assorted colored paper.
