Two of our city's greatest attractions are joining forces tonight, for “Bikes & Beers”, a collaborative two-wheeled adventure sponsored by the CT Beer Trail and the folks from Pedal Power, and being hosted tonight by Eli Cannon's.
This is the fourth installment of the “Bikes & Beers” series, which celebrates bicycling and local craft beer all across Connecticut.
Organized bicycle rides will be led by cyclists from Pedal Power, and there will be multiple different groups to allow riders at all levels of skill and experience to enjoy themselves. After the ride, cyclists will gain exclusive access to Eli Cannon’s, which will be closed to the general public on the night of the event.
“We’re normally closed on Mondays,” said Carrie Carella, head manager at Eli Cannon’s. “But we wanted to do something special and decided to open our doors and provide something that will set this night apart from previous Bikes & Beers rides. This is going to be a truly unique event!”
The staff at Eli's will provide their extensive offerings of craft beer, and a selection of complimentary food and a limited menu for those who want something more. Connecticut’s own New England Brewing Company will augment Eli Cannon’s extensive tap list with some of the finest locally crafted beer available in the state. The night will be topped off with live music from “The Clams” a local instrumental band that specializes in 1960s surf rock.
There are 4 different organized rides. The A/B/C regular Monday evening rides will depart from behind Pedal Power at 5PM sharp. There is also a D/Casual Level ride, which is 13.4 level miles ("casual" is all relative, I guess), this ride departs at 5:30, and passes through Middlefield.
Once the ride is finished, participants are welcome to park their bicycles in the Pedal Power shop and head over to Eli Cannon’s for the after party. Eli's also has one of our city's most frequently used bicycle racks, parked conveniently and safely outside their front entrance.

Argh, I am in Yellowstone Park this week, after having bicycled 440 miles over the past week. Have a beer for me!
