Middletown Remains a Democratic Stronghold

Middletown voted strongly Democratic in the election yesterday. This is most clearly shown in the numbers for the governor's race. Whereas Malloy and Foley were in a virtual dead heat state-wide, Malloy won 68% of Middletown votes. In the district voting in the Senior Center on Williams Street, Malloy received an astonishing 84% of the votes. Only Westfield, traditionally somewhat more conservative than other parts of Middletown, gave Foley a slight edge.

Middletown also eschewed the anti-incumbent sentiment that swept the nation, voting to return all incumbents back to the State Capitol.

In the State House of Representatives, Joe Serra, whose district is entirely within Middletown, won easily. Gail Hamm, and Matt Lesser won entirely because of large majorities in Middletown, and even Jim O'Rourke easily beat his opponent in the Middletown portion of his district (overall, he lost to Christie Carpino because the Cromwell voters were not nearly so agreeable).

In the State Senate, Paul Doyle and Tom Gaffey won easily.

Unfortunate, it will be buisness as usual in Harford. More government...more taxes. The democrats did a great job as always into scaring the senior citizens for voting for them...it's really sad.
