Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, who represents Middletown in the U.S. House of Representatives, will unveil this year’s submissions for the annual Congressional Art Competition today, May 4 at 12:30 p.m., at Gateway Community College. She will announce the winning artist at a reception honoring the students. The exhibition will remain on display at Gateway Community College through May 14 and includes 9 submissions from Middletown High School students.
The winner will be invited to Washington, D.C. this summer to join other winners from across the country whose pieces will be displayed in the Capitol for a year. This is the 32nd annual congressional arts competition, which takes place in districts across the country. The winner will have their artwork hang in the Capitol for a year. The art will be displayed in the hallway between the Cannon House Office Building and the Capitol, a very well-traveled area, with members, staff and visitors walking back and forth all day long seeing the artwork.
