Middletown's
9/10 All Star Softball Team has won the District 9 CHAMPIONSHIP by
beating Guilford 11-5!!!
Kaitlyn "Fishbone" Newman pitched 6 complete
innings for the win. The offense was powered by Breanna "Roadrunner"
Saldivar who went 2 for 3 and broke the game open in the 4 inning with
an in the park grand slam. Dominique "Nique" Highsmith and Cheyenne
"Midget" Trinidad had two hits each and Janelle "Squirrel" Franklin
scored three times for Middletown. However, our admirable offense wouldn't be anywhere without the defensive efforts of
Mikayla "Chipmunk" Tine, Alexandra "A-Wow" Marchand, Arianna "Monkey"
Scionti, Carley "Bucket" Gessaro, Michele "Butterfingers" Barbour,
Amanda "Flipflop" Perrotta and Elizabeth " Lolipop" Joy that made the
difference in the game. Middletown played against Guilford, East
Hampton, Madison and Chester/Deep
River and went 4 -0 in their pool to advance to the
semi-finals where they beat Haddam and advanced to the Championship
game. Middletown will now move on to Sectionals in East Hampton over
the next week.
