In an effort to broaden the public's ability to bring issues before the Common Council, the city's legislative body created a new set of rules by which the public could make their concerns known.
Tuesday evening, the very first of monthly-scheduled meetings will be held at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in the media center beginning at 7 PM. The public can speak on any topic for up to 10 minutes, although the Council will limit comments to topics over which the Council can provide some response by directing it to the appropriate committee or by taking it up in the Council agenda. The Council has also noted that it will not abide personal attacks by members of the public.
Unfortunately, the meeting is scheduled directly against the monthly Board of Education meeting. Tonight the Board of Education opens the floor for discussion of the budget it intends to send forward to the Common Council.
