Middletown Planning, Conservation & Development Newsletter- August 5, 2011
MIDDLETOWN STATISTICS REPORT- AUGUST 2011
Local Economy-.Unemployed jumped up to 8.9%. Hiring in July was up slightly, but not enough to offset increases in unemployment.
Housing- Foreclosures have decrease again for the 4th straight month. Sales continue their weak trends, but a housing correction should be reaching an end. The real estate market likely will not see sustained gains until employment rebounds.

Thanks, Mondo - I knew that pizza would save Middletown.

I have heard that not a single unit of the BroadPark development has sold yet... hoping that is not correct?

In the irony department, the P & Z will be considering an application to convert a former car dealer location to a liquor store by Tipsey Enterprises.

Talk about irony, planning to build a liquor store across the street from the high school.

Anonymous 6:47 pm so would you rather it stay a vacant lot bringing in no revenue or actually become a viable business? Are you for business in Middetown or against it? Quick - decide if you want YOUR property taxes to go up or down??

Anon 1:02 - a brothel would bring in more revenue - quick, up or down?

An opium den would bring in more than a brothel - quick, up or down?

So what??? High School kids can't buy liquor who cares if they build it near the school??? And you can't have open containers in public so its not like people will drink outside of the store either-

Another subdivision? Don't we have enough homes already on the market in Middletown?
