Westfield Fire District Election Tonight

The election of Commissioners for the Westfield Fire District will take place tonight.

There are 9 Commissioners, each of whom serve 3 years. 6 men are running to fill three empty seats, as well as a replacement seat for 2 years.

The election is an old-fashioned affair, residents assemble in the fire station for the annual meeting. When it is time for the vote, one of the firemen collects folded paper ballots in a large soup pot.

Last year 88 people voted, but expect a larger turnout this year.
