Steer Off The Road

A young steer left his barn on the corner of Higby and Country Club road this morning, for a short walk-about in Westfield. He did not go far before he found some delightful fresh grass.

The police were waiting for the owner to arrive, and were less concerned about the steer than they were about stupid motorists stopping to take pictures.

You want to tell the world that you know something about Steve that is not in the article, let me congratulate you!

What you don't know, because in hindsight I did not put any context around it, was who I was referring to with my "stupid motorists" comment. You may find this hard to believe, but it wasn't about you.

As I was taking the first picture in the article, a policewoman pulled up. I rolled down my window and she asked, "What are you doing?" I replied, "Taking a picture of a cow." She suggested that it might not be such a good idea to stop my large pickup in the middle of one of the most dangerous curves in the city, and I moved on, feeling more than a little like a stupid motorist.
