Around Middletown in 80 Days: Day 5
Vecchitto Italian Ice
323 deKoven Drive
Now that the summer is finally hot and dry, stop by Vecchitto Italian Ice for a truly cool treat. A true family business, Vecchitto’s has been making what some claim are the best Italian ices around since the 1930s. Our world-traveler Phileas Fogg will put that claim to the test the only way he can – by trying each and ever flavor they serve. Which is your favorite?

Without question --- my favorite flavor is lemon-lime.
As a kid watching ballgames at Palmer Field the highlight of the evening was when Joe Slush showed up.
Believe it or not; Joe Slush use to be allowed to drive his little white truck onto Nathaniel White School property in Cromwell - in the early 1950s - during lunch time. My life-long love affair with their Lemon Ice has lasted more than half a Century!
Nice people and a great product. Never found anything that came close to their ices excepting my own sorbets.
Almond !!!
