New Government Officials To Be Sworn In Today

Ben Florsheim will be sworn in by Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz Tuesday at 7PM, in a ceremony at Middletown High School. The swearing-in ceremony is part of the "Biennial Meeting Of The City Of Middletown Common Council", mandated by the charter (Agenda).

The Invocation will be given by Pastor Mahogany Thomas, Minister of Youth and Families at First Church. Cheryl Anne Hale, Middletown Poet Laureate will read a poem.

Mayor Drew will deliver remarks, and Florsheim will then take the oath of office.

All other newly elected officials will then take the Oath of Office, delivered by Mayor Florsheim.

Mayor Florsheim will deliver an inaugural address. and the meeting will be ended with a benediction by Reverend Moses Harvill of Cross Street AME Zion Church, and a rendition of "God Bless America" by the Middletown High School Advanced Choir.

Do we know who will take Bobbye's place on the Council now that she's Ben's chief of staff? Is it the person with the next most votes?

It will probably be one of the candidates for city council from the endorsed slate that lost in the Democratic Primary. If you recall 7 our of the eight candidates won and Meghan Carta who ran with Bill Russo won. I doubt if any of the candidates who ran with Bill Russo will be nominated.
