MMPA President Calls for "Change the Vote Day" Week

John Milardo, who has been a constant critic of Democratic members of Middletown's Common Council, has called for union colleagues, and all residents who are registered Democratic to change their voting affiliation to "Republican, Tea Party, Non-Affiliated, Green Party, whatever."  Milardo feels the affiliation switch will demonstrate dissatisfaction with recent votes by the Democratic Council members, most particularly the rejection of Acting Chief Patrick McMahon for the permanent chief's post.

While titled, "Change the Vote Day," Milardo is calling for a week-long action of affiliation switching.

Labor is asking every citizen who is disgruntled with their Middletown democratic
Common Council members, to get up and do something about it! Not in 2011, but
beginning right now! I’m asking those who are registered democrats, to change
your party affiliation to something else. Republican, Tea Party, Non-Affiliated,
Green Party, whatever; to show the democratic Council members, you do not agree
with the way they have been doing YOUR business. You elected them, and YOU
are not happy with them! Just because you vote democratic, doesn’t mean you
have to settle for mediocrity! If you don’t take steps to change the “system”, who
will? You have the POWER! Use it!

realy ed do you think everything the republicans were doing through the selection procces was on the up and up. the mayor should have put the acting chief / deputy chief up in front of the council in March of this year. he is not bound to have a panel decide who he proposes. the dems shamed him into having a selection panel. the the mayors canidate did not come in first by a panel of peers. so we had another panel and another. the mayor is just as bad as the democrats, they should both be ashamed. people who also should be ashamed are the personel director and the park & rec field supervisor. the personel director went above and beyond what the job duties call for, an unbiased opinion to afford the city and its taxpayers the best qaulified canidate for any job. im not a police chief so i dont know who the best qaulified is. the personnel director clearly supported one canidate over 3 others in a heavy handed attempt to force a canidate on the council. the park and rec supervisor should be ashamed for the off the wall bantar that would get sal c. 6 months on the hill. he does not represent all labor and that should be noted. ed do me a favor report each day how many voters change from dem to rep. i am interested in the out come. i think the labor leader is going to be as suprised as the e. hampton council that the public/union's are tired of this b.s. i'll bet $5 that under 20 people change parties !
