Police: Taser Video Surveillance Fails to Show Altercation

Press Release
September 10, 2010

Acting Chief Patrick McMahon has had the opportunity to view the video surveillance
footage from the Middletown High School in regards to the incident that occurred
on September 3rd where a Taser was used in the arrest of a 17-yr-old student. The
Middletown High School provided the Middletown Police Department with a copy of
the surveillance video. The footage does not show the altercation that Officer Scrivo
had with the student and it does not show Officer Rodriquez deploying the Taser when
coming to Officer Scrivo’s aide. The only portion of the incident that was captured on
video is the student being escorted out of the cafeteria in handcuffs.

The video surveillance footage will not be available for release.
