There are two meetings of the Board of Education this evening.
The first is a regularly scheduled workshop meeting about the Board of Education Roles and Responsibilities to be held from 6-8 PM.
The second meeting is a meeting called yesterday to discuss the investigation and audit of the Board of Education by the City of Middletown, and the mayor's office. This meeting will begin at 8 PM.
Both meetings will take place in Conference Room A, of the Administration Offices on Hunting Hill Road.
According to the agenda, the "Discussion of Document" is proposed for executive session. The Board has to vote to invoke "executive session" which means that the public and press may not be allowed in the room for the discussion, and minutes are not required. If the BOE will be discussing pending litigation of any kind, it is their right to meet in "executive session." The Board needs a two-thirds majority vote to enter executive session. No vote of the Board may take place in the executive session, and if a vote is required, for example to take legal action against the City of Middletown, that vote must take place in public session, likely after the executive session. No topic other than the that which is voted on to be discussed in executive session may be discussed during that session.
