Jen Alexander wrote a post about the upcoming St. Sebastian's Festival earlier this week.
In my household it's a big event. My six-year old sons are nearly beside themselves as the rides are being constructed. We do an evening walkthrough each day in anticipation. (The "funhouse" has an Alice in Wonderland makeover this year.)
This year, the festival has been extended into Thursday evening. And as a neighbor commented, the pizza fritta will be homemade again this year.
While Friday's weather looks a bit unsettled, the rest of the weekend looks fine.
It's a strangely quiet weekend on my block of Pearl Street. With the intersection of Pearl and Washington blocked off, the road is quiet after the last blast of Vic Damone fades in from the festival's PA in the evening.
The Middletown Eye will be donating a rhubarb pie to the annual baked goods auction. Look for the crust with the eyeball on it.
The attached picture, which I affectionately and respectfully call "French-fry Jesus," was taken a few years ago, and the juxtaposition of the icon and the deep-fry booth hasn't occured since.

Do you know when the parade is - and the route? I miss it every year! Thanks.
