Make Music Day, Middletown. Today June 21, Summer Solstice.

Fete de La Musique, 2017
A year ago today I was with my family in Paris, the site of the original Fete de la Musique (Music Festival), where all over Paris, and all over France, and other cities in the world, music is celebrated by street performances on the longest day of the year, June 21.

This year, the "fete" comes to the US, as several cities celebrate Make Music Day, with the same kind of free, outdoor public performances.  And Middletown is participating.

Make Music Day, Middletown has been woefully underpublicized, but music begins at noon at a variety of locations around the city.  The complete schedule is here.

FYI, the street performers pictured above, performing last year on a corner in a Montmartre neighborhood, will be performing twice this year in Middletown.  Once with the the Middletown Stage Company at Harbor Park, beginning at 4PM, and once with the Middletown High School Jazz ensemble beginning at 5PM in Butternut Hollow Park.
