Peter LaMalfa Plays The Buttonwood Tree

Pete LaMalfa

Tonight TBT presents Peter LaMalfa (the youngest in the family) for a debut of an exciting new jazz trio.  Seats are available online at www.buttonwood.org.

The Pete LaMalfa Trio features three friends and musical collaborators, all hailing from the Nutmeg State. After the trio graduated from Purchase College, LaMalfa went west to study with Jazz great George Colligan in Oregon. Now home for the holidays, Pete is excited to bring his group to the Buttonwood for a night full of jazz standards, originals and compositions from local legends like Noah Baerman & Sean Clapis. Assisted by the transcendental gentleman Dean Torrey on bass and the infamous Michael Camacho on drums, this is guaranteed to be a swinging affair!

Pete LaMalfa is a jazz pianist and educator living in Portland, Oregon. A former student of Noah Baerman and Ray Vega (of the famous Tito Puente Band), LaMalfa now studies music at Portland State with musicians such as George Colligan, Jeff Baker and Darrell Grant. Peter was a prominent player in the Tri-State Area but has come to the Pacific Northwest to further his studies and discover new music.

LaMalfa has frequently appeared at bars, clubs and restaurants around Manhattan & Brooklyn such as Silvana, The Way Station, Tomi Jazz and Cafe Nadery to name a few. He has performed with many jazz greats including Dick Oatts, Scott Wendholt, Raymond Vega, Ralph Lalama, Ron Horton and Barry Reis. Peter is passionate about promoting positive social change through music, and currently works at the non-profit group
