Canadian Celtic Sister Band
AND Special Dinner at O'Rourke's Diner
At 6:00pm, Brian O'Rourke, the infamous and creative chef of O'Rourke's Diner,
 will be cooking up some tasty treats in support of The Buttonwood Tree 
Performing Arts & Cultural Center. Dinner will be enhanced by the 
lovely sounds of sisters, Erin and Colleen Searson, on keyboard and 
fiddle. Following dinner, a full concert of the quartet will take place 
at The Buttonwood Tree. 
Searson will be performing songs from their brand new album release
 'Stars Above the Farm'.  A mix of instrumental and original vocal 
numbers, the new album tells stories of their hometown, The Ottawa 
Valley in Ontario, Canada.  Searson is a highly energetic show that 
includes step dancing, sweet vocals and lively fiddling.  Joined by 
talented musicians Fraser Gauthier and Daniel O'Shea on bass, drums and 
percussion, this is a show for all ages!

ConneticWord Qualifiers
Connecticut Youth Slam Team tryouts will begin 
September the nineteenth. The event will start off with a writing 
workshop at 1pm and will be followed by the slam competition at 2:15. 
The event is free and open to everyone. Poets between the ages of 12 and
 19 are encouraged to come and compete, all you need are two original 
poems not exceeding 3 minutes. You are encouraged to bring money for 
refreshments provided by ConneticWord, proceeds will go toward the 
Buttonwood Tree and ConneticWord. This will be the first of five 
qualifier slams leading up to the finals at the Bushnell!

Bebop and Beyond!
Jazz-Apero
 is an international, multicultural jazz collective that originated in 
France and has now landed on the New England coast. 
These international
 jazz elites provide unbounded bebop and beyond, including the modern 
jazz of be-bop and post-bop eras featuring composers such as Charlie 
Parker, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie,
 Antonio Carlos Jobim, Wayne Shorter, Horace Silver, and Bill Evans.
