From Trevor Davis
-----------------------
The Paul Winter Consort will perform for one show only on Friday, October 23, 2015 at The Sanctuary at 190 Court in downtown. The performance is the inaugural presentation of Central City Productions.
Saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and seven-time Grammy winner Paul Winter has a body of work that chronicles his wide-ranging experiences in the musical traditions and natural environments of the Earth. The Paul Winter Consort mixes elements of jazz, classical and world music, along with the sounds of animals and nature. Their unique musical style is often called “Earth Music.”
Winter’s early years of touring with his original sextet, close contact with the musical community of Brazil, and a growing interest in the natural world and the voices of the earth awakened in Paul the desire to move into a broader realm of music and explore a richer texture of sound. As a result, he formed the Paul Winter Consort. The group incorporated a very different instrumentation from his sextet, but continued to pursue a spirit of celebration and a balance between the improvised and the composed.
“We’re delighted to present Paul as the first of many concerts at The Sanctuary at 190 Court (First Church, Congregational)” stated Central City Production’s founder, Trevor Davis. “This beautiful performance space is certain to become a favorite with performers and audience members alike.”
Advance tickets (which include free parking across the street at the Middlesex Corporate Center parking garage) will be $45 (General Admission) and $75 (VIP/Includes reserved seating and “Meet & Greet” with the performers.)
