Artist’s Reception – Jacqueline Jones “Paint The Town”

  (Free, Complimentary refreshments served)

PAINT THE TOWN!: This special one man exhibit by Glastonbury artist, Jacqueline Jones, focuses on local scenes of Middletown and the surrounding area painted in oils on location. These colorful, lively and spontaneous scenes include: Wesleyan University, Harbor Park, the Portland Quarry and various street scenes of churches, pubs and people. Inspired by her love of people and the joy of working in the open air, her oils are infused with a sense of wonder and vitality described through rich color and lively brushwork. Wind, warmth, voices and memories are woven into each piece as she finds endless inspiration in the realm of country and cityscapes; inhabited or uninhabited scenes that offer a strong abstract composition of light, character and solid form.

“Whatever the subject matter, I’m energized by the way light reveals essence and form; each a unique journey that carries its own emotive signature.”
As a child Jacqueline studied with local artist Joseph Gionfriddo of Gilead. A former student of Guy Wiggins and James Goodwin McManus, Gionfriddo instilled in her a love of traditional oil painting. Ms. Jones earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Art as well as an Associate’s Degree in Illustration from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She is the recipient of numerous awards including “1st Prize for Outstanding Work” at the prestigious Salmagundi Club in NYC.
Her professional memberships include Allied Artists of America, American Artist Professional League, American Society of Marine Artists, Oil Painters of America, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, The Connecticut Academy of the Fine Arts, The Connecticut Plein Air Painter’s Society, The New Haven Paint and Clay Club as well as The Salmagundi Club in NYC. She is also member of Glastonbury Arts, Essex Art Association, Lyme Art Association, Middletown Art Guild and the Mystic Art Center.
PAINT THE TOWN! runs May 1st through May 30th. Please join us for an opening reception of wine and appetizers to kick off the show as well as meet the artist, Friday, May 1st from 5:30 – 7:00pm. You can view more of Jacqueline’s work at www.jacquelinejones.com
