URGENT MEDIA RELEASE! Kids Arts 2013 Emergency Programming and Location Change!

Due to a major water leak at the Kids Arts 2013 summer camp location at Macdonough School, the City of Middletown is forced to cancel the programs for Friday, July 5.

The programs will resume on Monday, July 8 at a new location:
Wesley Elementary School
10 Wesleyan Hills Road
Middletown

It is expected that Macdonough School will again be available for the resumption of our regular programming as early as Friday, July 12. In the meantime, bus schedules will be adjusted and those children who normally walk to our programs at Macdonough will now be able to board a bus there for the trip to Wesley School and back. New routes will be distributed to all attendees who require busing. For those who transport their child(ren), please now drop off and pick up at Wesley School Monday through Thursday, July 8-11. Also, the regular lunch program will continue in the new location for those enrolled full-day.

We recognize the hardships this may cause and we apologize for any inconvenience but please do know that we are doing this in the interest of the health and safety of the children and staff of Kids Arts 2013. If you have any questions, please call either the program director for the Circus or the Creative Arts Workshops using the phone number provided or contact the City Arts Office at 860.638.4510 or email stephan.allison@middletownct.gov.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The flooding at Macdonough was caused by a leaky water fountain on the main floor which soak through flooring and damaged walls, floors, rugs, furniture and supplies on the ground floor level.  The school elevator was also flooded.  The Board of Education building manager has assessed damage, and the BOE will pursue an insurance claim.

Curious about why no one has reported this flood to the media. How could a leaky fountain flood a whole building? Did the city plumber leave the hose on again?
