This Sunday at First Church: The Woman at the Well

Come for Worship,
Stay for the Auction

First Church of Christ,
Congregational (UCC)
190 Court Street
Middletown, CT

Sunday's sermon addresses Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well (John 4:1-42): Was Jesus flirting with her? Exploiting her hunger for love? What were the Biblical editors thinking when they decided to include this highly suggestive passage in the Bible?

Come listen as John Hall reflects on various forms of human hunger, thirst, and need; the relentless demands of life; and Christian ways of coping.

Annual Goods and Services Auction
After worship, the First Church Annual Goods & Services Auction begins at about noon and features an array of appealing items, including: a sea kayak adventure on Long Island Sound, a Reiki session, and a mystery gift from Paris.

Auction Lore: One year, John Hall offered complete car-cleaning service. His wife bid on it and won! ... In 2003, four tickets to a Red Sox game sold for $1000. A load of manure once sold for $60.
