One Event Off, One Event Still On

The Middletown House Concert Series presentation of fiddler Caoimhin O'Raghallaigh (pictured left), scheduled for tonight (3/22) has been canceled.  According to series curator, the fiddler's appearance was undone by issues with the Immigration Service.  The show will be rescheduled. To get on Ms. Cormack's mailing list for future shows, send an email to jcormack@wesleyan.edu.

An event that is still scheduled (no immigration issues here) is the 20th Annual "Hugo Black Lecture on Freedom of Expression."  The talk, featuring Professor Jack M. Balkin, Knight Professor of Constitutional Law and the First Amendment at Yale Law School, will take place at 8 p.m. in Wesleyan University's Memorial Chapel. The title of his lecture is "The First Amendment is an Information Policy."

Professor Balkin, the author and/or editor of 9 books, is also the Director of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. That organization is "an intellectual center addressing the implications of the Internet and new information technologies for law and society, guided by the values of democracy, human development, and social justice."

This event is free and open to the public.  For more information, call 860-685-2549.
