Middletown is Proud of you!

Children of Macdonough School
Middletown's Common Council is always in agreement when it comes to the importance of recognizing members of the community for their accomplishments. At tonight's Common Council Meeting the first honors went to the children of the Macdonough School Video Production Club, for taking 2nd prize in the National Recess Rocks Video Contest, the details of which were covered in a Feb 4. EYE post here, to see the YouTube video go here. To date there have been 241 views. (maybe we can make that 300 views by the end of the day.)
Russel Library Board of Director's  and staff
The next congratulations went to the Russell Library for wining the 2011 John Session Memorial Award. The library will be formally recognized in June by the American Library Association at their Annual Conference. This award recognizes a library or library system to honor significant work with the labor community. The Russell Library has a unique Business and Career Program as well as a job group that meets weekly. The program--open to all members of the community--works with individuals to help them get jobs, and just as importantly helps the job seeker in resume building, public speaking, keeping and gaining confidence, making career changes, and promoting entrepreneurship.
Councilmember Daley and Dr. Frecette
The last recognition of the night went to the Superintendent of schools Dr. Michael J. Frechett who was named as the Outstanding Superintendent by the University of Connecticut Neag School of Education Alumni Society. Council members praised his success in showing a strong and consistent pattern of improvement in the schools, and closing the learning gap and other goals of the No Child Left Behind act. Well done,  congratulations to all.
