Police Officers Graduate From Training Courses

From the Middletown Police Department

Two Middletown Police Officers recently graduated from rigorous police training courses.  The training was in addition to the regular training that all officers receive.

Officer Michael Inglis a seventeen year veteran of the police department successfully completed a three week motorcycle training course sponsored by the Connecticut State Police.  Officer Inglis was one of seven officers that were accepted into the class and one of five that graduated.

The course included high and low speed maneuvering of the motorcycle and controlled crashes.   The officers participating in the course were tested every other day on the various maneuverability skills need to operate the motorcycle effectively in a patrol capacity.  At any time during the course if an officer failed a test or time trial they were eliminated from the course.
Officer Inglis will be assigned to the Patrol Division operating one of the department’s motor units as weather permits.  He will also assist in special city events and with various police escorts.

Officer Daniel Schreiner who has been a member of the Middletown Police Department for the past three years, graduated from the Connecticut Police K-9 Patrol Academy along with his K-9 Otto who is 1 ½ years old on May 27, 2010.  The course was a strenuous fourteen weeks.  The officers worked with their K-9’s on mastering obedience, and then moved on to tracking, evidence recovery, building searches, crowd control and apprehension work.

Officer Schreiner will be assigned to the day shift in the Patrol Division as we already have K-9 Officers, Doug Clark and K-9 Niko and Michael D’Aresta and K-9 Hunter assigned to the evening and midnight shifts respectively.
