Farmers Market Starts July 2
We're getting ready to start the 2010 season for the North End Farmers Market on Main St.
We have an amazing group of farms this year including Cicarelli Farms from Northford, George Hall (Ogre Farms) Organic Farm from Simsbury, Beckett Farms, Chaplin Farms, Gotta's Farm, Roses Berry Farm and Beltane Farms.
Additionally, there will be guest vendors each week selling soaps and other gift items. We'll have samples, recipes and more!
If you'd like to volunteer to help make the market a success, please contact NEAT at 860-346-4845 or neat@neatmiddletown.org
Otherwise, just prepare yourself to shop!!

Where on Main Street will the farmers market be? Is this a daily event? What are the hours? Thanks!
It will run Fridays from 10-2 in front of It's Only Natural Market, 575 Main St.
It runs from July 2 through October.
Sorry, I didn't include those details because it's on the poster. But, I bet some people can't see the picture (phones, readers, etc...)
Sorry about that!
Fantastic news! Any plans for a Saturday or Sunday market? People that leave town to work can't be around during weekday hours.
Any plans for a weekend market? So people that work and aren't around during midday, weekday hours can support the local farmers?
It's really hard to establish a new weekend market and attract vendors. There are so many well-established weekend markets around the state that vendors are reluctant to come to a start-up (not guaranteed) market when they have guaranteed options.
So, for now, we're Fridays. Understanding the difficulty of leaving work, we hope that people who work close enough will come on their lunch break.
As someone who lives, but doesn't work in Middletown, I was happy to hear about the Higganum Village Farmers Market on Fridays, between 3:30 & 6:30 pm. It's on the green in Higganum (Candlewood Hill and Saybrook Roads). There will be new additions throughout the summer including pottery, a pizza baker (who will bring his oven onto the green), artists, ethnic cooking, and lecturers, entertainment & more!
