Mayor Vetoes City Vehicle Ordinance

In a rare veto of an ordinance passed by the Common Council, Middletown Mayor Sebastian Giuliano exercised a veto over an addition to town code (74-10) which would restrict the use of city-owned vehicles by city employees.

The amendment to the city ordiance was passed at a Common Council meeting on March 2. The mayor vetoed the change in ordinance is flawed as to proper law, and flawed as to proper form. In so claiming, the mayor states that the change in language violates the City Charter by limiting the power of the mayor.
