From the Middletown Police Department:
Saturday morning, at approx. 3:43a.m., members of the Middletown Police Patrol Division responded to a 911 call at 582 High St., Middletown. Officers were advised that a female was heard yelling in the background during the call. It was revealed that an ex-boyfriend of the female resident, later identified as Omar Menns, had kicked in the door to her apartment and a struggle ensued between the female, her current boyfriend and Menns. During the incident, it was determined that Menns physically assaulted the female and male inside the apartment until they were able to physically force Menns out of the apartment. Minor injuries were reported and Patrol officers canvassed the area for Menns and began applying for an arrest warrant for him.
Approx. an hour later, at 4:49a.m., Menns returned to 582 High St. and gained entry into the residence and again attacked both the male and female occupants. Menns allegedly gained entry and hid in the residence and when the male and female were attempting to leave, Menns appeared and began stabbing both of them with a knife. There was a struggle for a short while and then the female began hitting Menns with a shovel until he eventually fled from the scene. Both the male and female were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The male sustained serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital and the female was treated at Middlesex Hospital and was later released.
Middletown detectives are currently seeking out Menns and will be applying for arrest warrants for the two incidents.
Anyone with information to the whereabouts of Menns is encouraged to contact the Middletown Police Department’s detective bureau @ 860-344-3200.
