New bookstore to open in town

From Chris Hagedorn:

I was walking through Main St. Market the other day and found that a new bookstore is opening! It will be run by Linda Bowers, and it's located under the stairs down and to the left if you're coming from Main St. The store will be named The Book Bower, and their e-mail is info@bookbower.com. They're going to have a website, but there's nothing there yet.

Linda's husband was there putting together bookcases, and he said they will be a general interest bookstore and plan to open by August 18. This is something I've been wishing for in Middletown for a long time, so I think this is a very exciting development!!

This has been a long time coming. It's great to have a book store on Main Street. Now we can read while we eat!

All I can say is, "It's about time!"

Hmmm...yeah...since Broad Street Books is soooooo far off Main Street it's almost an impossibility to reach. Not.

OK, sarcasm aside, I think an independent book store is certainly a great addition to downtown. Just don't forget we already have one. Even if it isn't indepenent anymore, Broad Street is cozy and non-big box store like a Borders, even if a bit academic.

I heard that this will be a second-hand bookstore (or at least a section of it) and that they were looking for book donations...anyone have any info on that?

Wow, Thanks to everyone who wrote. This is going to be a used bookstore with an eventual inventory of about 8-10 thousand books. Trust me, there is something for everyone.
We are planning to open on August 18th, with hours from 10-6 Mon through Sat. Please stop by.
