Think Local! Plant Natives! Plant Sale Supports Local Conservation

Mark your calendars...the Connecticut River Coastal Conservation District's 25th annual spring plant sale fundraiser will be held April 29-May 1, 2016 at Tanger Outlets in Westbrook. We are excited to offer a large and varied selection of native plants once again this year. Our 2016 list is now available on our website (download PDF brochure and order form). You can order in advance to reserve your choices, or come and shop on our sale days!

This year's sale includes some exciting new CT natives never offered before at our sale, as well as some tried and true favorites. Choose from our varied selection of shrubs, ground covers, evergreen tree seedlings, flowering perennials, ferns, grasses, and culinary herbs. Once again offerings include many edibles, pollinator plants, and plants for special landscape conditions and conservation uses, such as rain gardens and waterside buffers. New plants this year are Paw Paw, American hazelnut, and Red mulberry. Other featured items
include Collins Organic Compost, and two special 16-piece groupings of colorful, nectar-rich plants, one to attract hummingbirds and the other butterflies.

Rosebay Rhododendron
We recommend you order early for the best selection. Advance orders are due April 8, 2016. Extra plants will also be available the days of the sale. If you have questions or would like a hard copy of the brochure and order form, contact the District office, 860-346-3282. For more information about our offerings, go to our website to see color photos and descriptions.

The Connecticut River Coastal Conservation District, a nonprofit organization based in Middletown, works to conserve the natural resources of the lower CT River watershed, adjacent coastal areas and Long Island Sound through technical assistance and education. All proceeds from the sale support our conservation, environmental education, and technical assistance programs.
