Police Use Warrant Sweep To Arrest 14 In North End

On Wednesday, September 26, 2012 the Middletown Police Department’s Street Crime Unit in conjunction with the Office of the State’s Attorney (Middlesex) combined efforts to improve the quality of life in Middletown’s north end area. Middletown’s north end area is known to have a high capacity of illegal narcotics sales, resulting in numerous past arrests and convictions.



The Street Crime Unit endeavors were focused on warrants involving illegal sale/ possession of narcotics, controlled substances, and other related organized criminal activities.

From June 2012 through September 2012, members of the Street Crime Unit addressed the concerns and complaints from citizens residing in the North End area. Numerous street level drug dealers had been identified during previous surveillance, and were to be the targets of this warrant sweep. As a result SIXTEEN Individuals were targeted as the Street Crime Unit obtained 24
NARCOTIC ARREST WARRANTS.

While executing the arrest warrants several parties were also identified as having outstanding arrest warrants and or in possession of narcotics. This investigation is ongoing as additional arrests are expected.

Mayor Daniel Drew stated that he applauds the work put forth by the Middletown Police Department, Parole and other local agencies that helped the police apprehend these criminals. This was a proactive, cooperative effort by all involved and it shows the conviction of the police department to make this community a safer place to live.
