Democratic Town Committee Endorses Candidates

From the Democratic Town Committee

The Middletown Democratic Town Committee on Thursday unanimously endorsed six candidates for statewide Constitutional and federal office, Chairwoman Elizabeth Santangelo announced Friday. Endorsed were:
  • Governor: Dan Malloy
  • U.S. Senator: Richard Blumenthal
  • Attorney General: Susan Bysiewicz
  • Secretary of the State: Denise Merrill
  • Comptroller: Nancy Wyman
  • State Treasurer: Denise Nappier

Middletown’s Democrats are proud to support city native Susan Bysiewicz, candidate for Attorney General. As Secretary of the State she successfully led a major state agency with responsibility for clean elections and serving businesses.

“As Attorney General, she will continue fighting everyday for the people of Connecticut,” Santangelo said.

Middletown’s Democrats also rallied behind former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy, who led a renaissance in his city, creating thousands of new jobs and transforming it into one of the most sought-after places to do business in the U.S. Connecticut ranks as one of the last states in job creation; Dan Malloy has proven that he has the ability get the state on the road toward prosperity.

After many years of working with Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, the Town Committee is pleased to endorse him for the U.S. Senate.  He has worked tirelessly for the people of Connecticut, fighting injustice and protecting the people of our state. He is the person we need in Washington right now.

Comptroller Nancy Wyman and Treasurer Denise Nappier have always worked hard for Middletown and the people of Connecticut. In these uncertain times, their experience will help Connecticut move beyond this economic malaise.

Denise Merrill has been an outstanding majority leader in the state House of Representatives. Her leadership in the Secretary of the State’s Office will be an asset to the people of Connecticut.

“Democratic Town Committee members look forward to supporting these candidates in what we expect to be an energetic campaign season,” Santangelo said.
