Great
Food from a selection of local restaurants, craft beer, wine, games, live
music, costumed servers, and an impressive group of Shakespeare and post-Shakespeare Slammers performing Truth to Power.
This Saturday night on Main Street Middletown.
Our State Representative Matt Lesser will host the performances. Middletown's Poet Laureate Susan Allison and local icon John Basinger headline a crackling crew of performers from around the State.
In addition to food straight from our own kitchens, the evening will feature delicacies from Celtic Cavern, Illiano's, ION Restaurant, La Boca, Tuscany Grill, maybe more.... draft beer will pour from Stony Creek and Still Hill Breweries.
The Performers will compete to raise the most money in support of this summer's Shakespeare in the Grove production of of Hamlet. Performers get patrons to donate in their name; the performer who generates the most money will win a week in a Cottage on the Long Island Sound. The stakes are high -- the Slammers are ready! The mood is crazy.
A small Silent Auction at intermission will offer an amazing Relax-the-Back Chair, a month of yoga at Yoga in Middletown, and some very fine wines.
Our Affordable Art Gallery will feature limited-edition hand-printed letterpress posters for Hamlet by Detroit-based artist Amos Kennedy, and Gather Courage posters by Middletown artist/printer/publisher Robin Price.
This Saturday. May 6. 7 pm. Community Health Center. ARTFARM's Shakespeare Slam VII. It's on.
