Zone Amendment To Allow Homeless Rehab Center in B-2, One of Three Public Hearings at P&Z Wednesday, January 8

The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold three pubic hearings Wednesday.

One of the hearings involves a zoning code text amendment to allow Homeless Rehabilitative Shelters for Men in the B-2 Zone.  While the change is being sought by Mount Olive Church for a proposed shelter at 695 South Main Street, such a text amendment would allow this usage in all B-2 Zones, including those on South Main Street, Washington Street and Saybrook Road.  If adopted, all applicants would have to return to the P&Z to establish the use for each individual use at any particular location.

In other public hearings, the P&Z will consider a 15 lot subdivision at Country Club and Mass Tom Roads, and a request for a map amendment to rezone 610 East Street from non-conforming in an R-15 zone to Neighborhood Rural Commercial Development Zone.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets in Council Chambers on Wednesday at 7PM.
