Last Call Last Saturday

La Boca Mexican Cantina had their last day in the North End on Saturday. According to their signage, they plan to re-open on April 9th. Their new location is at 337 Main, formerly the Downtown Bar, formerly the Public Bar, formerly Bob's Surplus. Anyone know what it was before that?

And before the YMCA it was a cow pasture.

And before it was a cow pasture, it was a hunting ground or a seasonal settlement. And before that it was under a mile or two of ice.

Yes, it was Sears & Roebuck before they moved into the Urban Removal site on the opposite side of Main St (where the police station/First&Last now reside).

Montgomery Wards was where Laser Tag
was most recently. Prior to Laser Tag is was Linderme & Zurcher (furniture and appliances) as I recall

Little City was in the site currently occupied by Forbidden City. The bar AFTER Public was called Downtown Bar & Grill, but I'm pretty sure that there wasn't a bar there before them. The owners of the Public did the renovations themselves, putting the kitchen downstairs where Bob's had the shoe department. The people who first took the lease on that space were from the Elbow Room in West Hartford, with plans to make a martini bar, but after a long time they gave that idea up and then Public came in.
