The first plow didn't arrive on Pearl Street until 11:30 a.m.
In the meantime, a Wesleyan plow, clearing snow from the Russell House driveway got stuck, and the earth mover that arrived to help got stuck as well. The earth mover was able to back up the drive, and swung around the block to help, clearing a path on the roadway. After some mean shoveling they were able to get the plow out, and left a huge snow damn in the driveway, and deep ruts on the road, which trapped at least two more vehicles, until neighbors with shovels came to their assistance.
Just ahead of the plow, North end residents Daniel Long and Jeff Cohen were touring downtown on cross country skies. Cohen reported that the only business open was Klekolo, but that Capitol Liquors was about to open its doors for necessities.
Police are asking drivers to avoid unnecessary trips to leave the roads open to plows and emergency vehicles and all those guys in 4X4's who need a testosterone release.
