The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, announced that the Chamber’s Arrigoni Bridge Committee will hold a meeting with officials from the Department of Transportation (DOT) to discuss the upcoming renovations to the bridge beginning in the spring of 2011 on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Chamber, 393 Main Street, Middletown.
The meeting is designed to open an ongoing dialogue between all stakeholders in the bridge’s repair. In addition to DOT officials, attendees will include: Middletown mayor Sebastian Giuliano; Portland First Selectwoman Susan Bransfield; State Representative Joe Serra; State Senator Paul Doyle; elected fire and police officials from Cromwell, East Hampton, Middlefield, Middletown, and Portland; and Chamber president Larry McHugh.
“We must all react quickly to this developing situation because. If not handled properly, we could end up with major traffic congestion on each side of the Arrigoni Bridge, which is a major artery in Central Connecticut,” McHugh said.
