The Not Really Naked Nuri

Today felt a bit more like October than May, so those who ran the Nuri at the annual St. Sebastian Festival were probably happy that bare feet were the closest they got to the ancient and traditional practice of running naked to honor St. Sebastian.

As always, the processional to the church was filled with noisy supplicants, barefooted, sock-footed and wearing white and red, bearing red and white carnations and shouting "Prima A Diu Sammastiano."

Ahead of the brass band were a parade of clerics and public figures, and once the procession made the block around Broad and Main, the ferris wheel began to spin, and the fried dough flew out of the booth.

No offense to anyone in particular, but am I the only one who is noticing that the politicians featured in these photos are all a bunch of old, portly, white men, and does anyone else find that annoying or disturbing? Our elected officials just don't look like the people they represent anymore....

I think the best picture from the celebration is the man with the 2 children on the ferris wheel.I think he is having a better time than they are. Some people never grow up!!!!!!!!!!!
